Chapter Four

Dinner was delicious and passed uneventfully. Both Richie and Ava were asking Lynn a dozen questions at a time. They wanted to know all about her horseback riding history--barrel racing at the rodeos included. Ava was asking all the right questions while Richie asked more obvious ones which earned him an embarrassed look from his daughter.

After dinner Ava showed Lynn the guesthouse. A part of the house which was still attached but had a separate front door and its own living room, kitchen, two bedrooms and a spacious bathroom. Lynn was in awe and the younger one giggled. “Daddy likes to make sure our guests are comfortable. Will you meet me out back for a swim?” She leaned against the doorframe and smiled shyly.

Joselynn turned around and nodded. “Sure will. Let me just change quickly and I’ll see you there?” She spoke and Ava nodded before turning around and into the main house looking for her new bikini. With rare moments of girl time Ava decided to show off what her dad had given her.

Inside the guest house Lynn was picking through her suitcase whilst silently cussing. There had to be something more appropriate for a relaxing swim instead of her sporty bathing suit. After most of its contents were lying around on the bed she found was she was looking for and smiled.

Richie had first scolded Ava for asking Lynn for a swim. Mentioning something about putting her in an uncomfortable position and making her feel compelled to join. After a quick explanation of who-said-what Richie was quite satisfied with his daughter. Changing into swim trunks as well he grabbed a large towel before heading out into the backyard only to find it empty. Women.

Lynn stepped out of the guesthouse wrapped in a large fluffy towel. She had a great body but in a rock-star’s house she felt slightly uncomfortable and self-conscious. Stepping around the extra part of the house she noticed a tan muscular body on a bed by the pool and Ava already in the water. The sun was slowly starting to set but someone had already turned on a few lights. Ava’s head shot out of the water as she saw Lynn appearing.

“Hey Lynn! Come in the water, it’s soooo nice.” Letting her words linger she ducked down and swam in a straight line just to where Richie was laying, in all his glorious nature. Lynn shook her head and greeted them both with a soft smile. Seeing Ava’s deep blue sparkly bikini she was glad not to have worn the other bathing suit.

Richie lowered his sunglasses and smiled. “You know…” He started in his ever so deep but smooth voice. “Swimming is quite the challenge with a towel wrapped around ya.” He grinned like a little boy and Lynn couldn’t help but chuckle and blush.

“Yeah well, maybe I like challenges.” She winked. Walking over to a futon she unwrapped the towel and after folding it casually she dropped it on the armrest. Ava whistled as the towel was away from her body. Black bikini, not too skimpy, with tiny beads on the top and around the waistband of the bottom. Sitting down on the edge of the pool Jocelynn let her feet dangle in the water, which was surprisingly warm given the time of the day. “Ava will you come help me tomorrow after school? I want to start with Olly in the morning, see where he’s at. Then give him some rest and continue in the evening for a bit.”

Ava’s head shot up and she wore a massive grin. “Yeah that’d be cool.” She spoke as the initial shock wore off. She loved her mom, she really did. But she never let her help out or do anything meaningful around the house. Jocelynn treated her like an young adult and Ava loved that.

Richie had been eyeing their interaction. There was no doubt if Jocelynn was good with youngsters. Ava adored this woman and that made this rock star a tad bit suspicious. He had to look out for his kid at all times. As Ava told the woman a joke Jocelynn threw her head back in laughter. Richie grinned at her throaty laugh. Getting up from the lounge bed he strolled over to the edge of the pool.

“Uh oh Lynn. Watch out, dad usually tries to dunk everyone under water.” Ava said loudly as she noticed her dad’s movements. Moments later he jumped in and immediately went after his daughter. Ava shrieked as she tried to get away but Richie was too fast and grabbed her shoulders. She barely had enough time to suck in a breath before he pushed her downward.

Seconds later she came up and wiped the water off her eyes. Focusing again she smiled mysteriously. Richie was about to ask her why as he felt delicate hands on his shoulders and oxygen was taken away from him. Ava and Lynn both swam away as quickly as they could and rushed out of the pool. Just as Lynn was pulling herself up on the edge she heard swearing behind her as Richie resurfaced. A grin was spread on her face and she took off on the lawn, knowing a payback would come.

Richie growled as he watched her dart away. Knowing he wasn’t going to be able to get her back at this moment he shook his head, left the pool and laid down on the lounge bed, face down. Ava and Lynn stared in shock. Well Ava stared in shock, Lynn was torn between shock and arousal. His ass sure looked good, especially at his age...not that he was old or anything.

He’s your boss, you idiot! She scolded herself. Taking the towel from the futon she sat down and picked up one of the stashed bottles of water. Chugging half of it down she smiled at Ava. “I enjoyed myself Ava, thanks for asking me to join you. I’ll head back into the guest house to get settled and I presume your bedtime is nearing since it’s a school night.”  She spoke at the youngest amongst them. Ava nodded silently. “Just come and find me when you get home. We’ll play with Olly a bit.”

“I will, thanks.” Ava started. “Good night Lynn.” She’d gotten up from the foot end of the lounge bed her dad was on and hugged Jocelynn.

Richie had turned around and sat up at this. “Have a good night Jocelynn. Just come down to the kitchen tomorrow if you’re hungry. I haven’t had the chance to stock the fridge of the guest house.”

“Thanks Richie, will do. Have a good night both.” She smiled and rounded the corner back to the guest house. Ava turned to face her dad as Lynn was out of earshot.

“You totally like her.” She said, placing her hands at her sides. Richie raised his brows. “Oh don’t give me that dad! I like her too though, you should totally ask her for a date.” Getting up from the lounge bed she leaned down to kiss her dad on the cheek. “I’m gonna take a shower and head to bed. G’night dad.” She waltzed away, leaving Richie staring at his daughter, completely speechless.

The sun was barely up and Lynn was already keeping Rosa company in the kitchen. Rosa insisted she made a hearty breakfast as Lynn would be burning a lot of energy. Trying to decline politely she ended up with eggs, bacon and toast on her plate anyway. Dressed in faded jeans, a light grey v-neck tank top and her brown leather boots she munched on the large amount of food.

“Thanks again Rosa, this was wonderful.” She spoke as she gulped down the last of her black coffee and rose to leave.

Rosa turned around from cleaning the stove. “It was no problem Miss Reid. Miss Ava won’t even join me for another thirty minutes and I never expect  Mister Richie before noon. I like the company in the morning.”

“Well it most certainly was my pleasure.” Lynn replied. “Have a good day.” Turning on her heel she moved out of the house and across the field towards the barn. Olly peeked his head out of the stable as soon as he heard the door open. Lynn walked over and pet him as she prepared his oats.

About two hours later she was ready to get him washed and back into the paddock. Without much trouble she did some basic groundwork with the gelding. Letting him follow her. Stop when she deed. Increase speed as she asked him. She finished with introducing him to a headstall and saddle pad. Keeping the headstall in front of him he moved closer and without any pressure took the bit into his mouth. Jocelynn had praised him for his and the horse seemed satisfied.

Attaching his lead rope to the barn she grabbed a pad and stroked his back with it before settling it in its proper place. Oliver had barely moved a muscle at that, being more excited to get to work than scared. Handing him a treat she praised him again. Making sure it was a positive experience.

Walking him over to the washing place she once again attached the lead rope and turned on the hose. Barely seconds later she was cursing words she had forgotten she knew about and quickly turned off the hose. It was too late already anyway, she was soaked. Groaning in annoyance she heard a chuckle behind her.

Pointing an accusing finger she growled. “You!”

Richie raised his hands in defense, grinning widely. “Just payback darlin.” Jocelynn tried her best to keep a gentle smile off her face. “I made sure to adjust the ending of the hose before I went to bed yesterday.”

“If I weren’t so pissed off I would probably tell you that it was a pretty good payback.” She spoke in a serious tone, turning around and fixing the hose. Seconds later she was done and turned around ready to fire off a stream of water but Richie was already too far away. “I’ll get you back you know!” She yelled and Richie only laughed. Maybe this will be fun after all.

  1. The guest house sounds lovely. Poor Ava. It seems like she is craving female attention.
I had to laugh at their antics in the pool but Lynn should have known Richie would get her back. Lol
